Instagram automation glossary

Short, plain definitions for the terms you will meet when setting up auto DM on Shre.

Auto DM

A direct message sent automatically by a tool, rather than typed by hand, usually triggered by an action like a comment or a story reply. See auto DM.

Comment to DM

An automation that sends someone a DM when they comment a chosen keyword on your post or Reel. The core of how Shre turns busy posts into conversations. See comment to DM.

Story reply

A message a viewer sends in response to your story. Shre can watch for a keyword in story replies and send an automatic DM back. See story reply automation.

Keyword trigger

The specific word that tells the automation to fire. When a comment or reply contains it, the DM is sent. Set per post.

Link in bio

The single clickable link Instagram allows on your profile. A storefront can turn that one link into a page of products, courses, and bookings. See storefront.

Graph API

Meta's official interface that approved apps use to work with Instagram. Shre runs on it, so it never needs your password.

Rate limit

A cap on how many actions can happen in a period. Shre paces its sending to stay within limits so messages look natural.

Opt in

When a person actively signals interest, for example by commenting your keyword. It means the DM they receive is one they asked for, which is better for deliverability and trust.

Welcome DM

An automatic message that greets someone at the start of a conversation, setting the tone before you offer the next step.
