Set up your first auto DM
Getting your first automation live takes only a few minutes. This walkthrough is for total beginners, so no jargon. Everything runs on the official Instagram Graph API, and Shre never logs into your account or asks for your password.
1. Connect your account
You need an Instagram professional account, either Business or Creator. Switching is free in the Instagram app settings. Connect it to Shre through the official Meta flow. This is the secure, approved way and takes a minute.
2. Pick a post
Choose a post or Reel that gets comments, or plan the automation for something you are about to publish. Automations are set per post, so you can start with just one.
3. Choose a keyword
Pick one short word that is easy to type, like LINK or GUIDE. This is the word people will comment to trigger the DM. See comment to DM.
- One clear word, easy to spell
- Mentioned plainly in your caption
- Tied to a real offer people want
4. Write the DM
Write a short, friendly message that delivers what you promised and includes your link or next step. Keep it human and give one clear action. For wording ideas, see DM templates.
5. Turn it on and test
Switch the automation on, then comment the keyword from another account to confirm the DM arrives with a working link. If anything is off, fix it and test again. That is it, your first auto DM is live.
From here you can add story reply automation, connect your storefront, and follow up by email. You are on the free 7 day trial with no card, then a flat 499 rupees a month with unlimited messages. Browse the guides next.
